My name is Joy and I love to travel – my parents traveled a lot before they had children and their stories and souvenirs always intrigued me. I grew up dreaming of camel rides in Egypt and European castles. Growing up in South Texas, we did a lot of road trips and my parents frequently liked to cross into Mexico to shop. In high school and college, I ventured out further into Central America. I learned from these experiences that I loved education and language.
After graduating from college, I took a leap and moved to China for a graduate program to study teaching english. It was a stiff learning curve – one that was fret with lots of mistakes and blunders that I will forever be grateful for. I met Anthony my fourth year in China. He convinced me to marry him and move to Alaska – a foreign world for someone who had always lived in warm climate of Texas. We lived overseas in Japan for a few years after that and I was able to take some exciting short teaching assignments while there. Through our own travel and work, we saw nearly all of East Asia.
I have an Master’s in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a graduate certificate in International Relations. I have taught high school and university for over ten years in several countries. We are back in South Texas again and although we are glad to be home again we are excited to keep traveling and seeing the world.
If there is somewhere that you always dreamed of going as a kid, we want to help you get there. If there are places that you would love to see as a family, maybe on a road trip in the US, a couple weeks in Europe, or a cruise in the Pacific, we want to help you realize that it is with your reach…AND you can take your kids too!
