My name is Anthony and I’m a middle class guy who loves to travel…wherever and whenever the opportunities present themselves. I grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania and didn’t travel much except to see relatives in Texas and Canada. After I graduated from college in Colorado in 2004, I started traveling more outside the country and realized that saving airline miles and points were a great way for people with modest salaries to invest in future travels that might cost more than their means. At first, I used my miles to go visit friends from my new faraway home in Alaska. In 2007, I used miles to propose to my fiance (now wife, who lived in China at the time) and later to take a honeymoon. In 2011, I started using miles and points to fly in premium travel classes from my home in Tokyo, Japan and began staying in places that I had read about in Conde Nast Traveler. These days, I try to stretch my miles by flying economy since I want to visit more places.
I’m back in the states living in South Texas with my wife Joy and an adventurous son who also loves to travel. I have an MBA with a focus in International Business, an M.S. in International Relations and over 2,500 hours in multi-engine turbine aircraft (me piloting the aircraft). After several years of studying culture, history and finance, travel continues to enhance my perspective.
I hope you’ll discover that traveling to a place on your bucket list is well within your reach even if you’re just a regular person who hasn’t traveled much in the past. I also hope that whether you travel frequently or not so frequently that you’ll gain some wisdom from all the mistakes I’ve blundered through, plans I’ve made, and people that I’ve met in my 10 years of traveling around the world.
